2027 Elections: Atiku Sparks Buzz with Hints of ADC Presidential Bid

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has stirred political tension and social media reactions after dropping hints about contesting the 2027 presidential election under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The speculation followed a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) recounting Atiku’s interaction with reporters. When asked about his 2027 plans, Atiku responded confidently, “We will let you know, we will give you formal announcement.”

Pressed further on what he would do if he failed to secure the ADC ticket, Atiku replied without hesitation, “Have I ever failed to get the ticket? I’m confident.”

Addressing concerns about his age and growing calls for youth inclusion in leadership, the seasoned politician said, “This is democracy. The young and old can contest.”

His comments immediately ignited a flurry of reactions online. While some supported his resilience and track record, others questioned the need for another run, urging him to step aside for younger contenders. Critics pointed to his history of failed presidential bids and urged him to focus on addressing issues in his home state, Adamawa.

One user wrote, “Go and help your people in Adamawa battling floods instead of chasing another ticket,” while another said, “Let a younger, competent person take the lead this time.”

Despite the mixed reactions, Atiku’s remarks have signaled his intention to remain a major force in Nigeria’s political landscape, setting the stage for what promises to be a heated build-up to 2027.
