22-Year-Old Arrested in Yobe for Allegedly Defiling Minor.
The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man accused of raping an 11-year-old girl in Maiduwa Village, Fika Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson, Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday, disclosing that the suspect lured the child to his farm under the guise of offering assistance and a promise of reward.
Instead, he reportedly took advantage of her and committed the crime.
Abdulkarim revealed that the suspect confessed during interrogation. He identified the suspect as Ishiaku Bukar, a resident of Maiduwa Village, who was apprehended by operatives of the Fika Divisional Police Headquarters following a distress call from the victim’s guardian.
The police further noted that medical evaluation and treatment for the survivor have commenced while investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, urged residents to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious individuals who prey on women and children.
