24-Year-Old NYSC Corps Member Reported Missing in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command has reported that 24-year-old NYSC corps member Levi Anyanwu has gone missing. Anyanwu, who is serving at Ijaw National Academy in Kaiama, Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA, was last seen on October 8, 2025.

The state’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit has launched a detailed investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Reports indicate that Anyanwu was last seen with fellow Jehovah’s Witness members, Mr. and Mrs. Wisdom George.

He had visited Kaiama Referral Hospital for treatment on October 4 and was discharged on October 5 before disappearing.

Police also questioned his roommate, who confirmed Anyanwu had been with the George family until October 6. Investigators revealed that two inmates in Ogun State attempted to extort N100,000 from Anyanwu’s father by falsely claiming he had been kidnapped.

Preliminary findings suggest Anyanwu’s disappearance may be linked to personal or religious reasons, with no evidence of abduction.

Authorities confirmed that efforts to locate Anyanwu are ongoing and investigations continue to bring clarity to the case.
