448 Graduates Bag First Class Degrees as University of Ibadan Graduates 5,900 Students
The University of Ibadan (UI) has proudly announced that 448 students of the 2024/2025 academic session graduated with First Class honours, out of a total of 5,900 graduating students.
The announcement was made on the first day of the convocation ceremony for Arts, Science, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Public Health, Dentistry, and Pharmaceutical Sciences faculties.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, described the achievement as a testament to the students’ discipline, hard work, and perseverance.
He emphasized that the University has equipped graduates to face global challenges with competence, character, and creativity.
“UI continues to stand as Nigeria’s premier university and one of Africa’s most prestigious institutions. Our graduates are trained to seize opportunities with confidence and integrity,” Prof. Adebowale said.
He further highlighted the university’s Postgraduate College as the largest in Africa and praised the newly established Faculty of Computing for positioning UI at the forefront of digital innovation.
The Vice Chancellor acknowledged the economic and infrastructural challenges in Nigeria but commended the resilience of the nation’s scholars, noting that the spirit of innovation remains central to UI’s progress.
