50 Babies Born at RCCG Convention as Pastor Adeboye Delivers Stirring Sermon on Spiritual Warfare

The third day of the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s (RCCG) 73rd Annual Convention witnessed a powerful blend of spiritual insight and celebration as the church’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, delivered a deeply reflective message titled “Overcome Yourself.”

Addressing thousands of worshippers gathered at the Redemption Camp on Wednesday, Pastor Adeboye emphasized that the greatest battle a believer can win is the one against self.

Quoting Proverbs 16:32, the revered cleric reminded the congregation that ruling over one’s spirit is a greater achievement than conquering a city.

He challenged believers to examine their lives closely, identify personal weaknesses, and commit to overcoming them through spiritual discipline and intentional living.

In the heart of his sermon, Pastor Adeboye offered a five-part roadmap to living as a permanent overcomer. He urged Christians to exercise discipline over their senses, starting with what they hear. He emphasized that both faith and fear can be cultivated by what one listens to, advising believers to be discerning about media consumption and to prioritize the Gospel, which he called the true Good News.

He encouraged the congregation to change their perspective, stating that spiritual victory depends not just on what one sees, but how it is seen. Rather than focusing on challenges or obstacles, he urged worshippers to focus on God, who is greater than any circumstance.

Pastor Adeboye also warned about the power of speech, stressing that one’s words are a reflection of their faith. He admonished against complaining and urged believers to use their tongues to praise God, speak life, and declare divine will. He taught that what is spoken can either attract God’s power or give room to negative forces.

Further, he highlighted the importance of righteous actions, particularly in the use of one’s hands. He cautioned against fraudulent behaviour such as signing false reports or handling anything dishonest. Clean hands, he said, are a prerequisite for divine intervention.

Using biblical examples, Pastor Adeboye underscored how unresolved personal flaws can lead to downfall, no matter how gifted or favoured one might be. He referenced Moses, who missed the Promised Land due to anger, and Solomon, who allowed his passions to undermine his God-given wisdom. He warned that spiritual warfare is serious business, and urged worshippers to deal decisively with their weak points if they wish to fulfill their divine destinies.

Despite the sober message, the atmosphere shifted to jubilation when Pastor Adeboye joyfully announced that 50 babies 34 boys and 16 girls had been born at the RCCG maternity centre since the beginning of the convention. The congregation erupted in applause, celebrating the new lives as a sign of blessing and fruitfulness during the spiritual gathering.

The ongoing convention, themed “The Overcomers,” continues to draw thousands of participants from across Nigeria and the diaspora for a week of intensive prayers, teachings, and divine encounters at the Redemption Camp.
