“85% Of Nigerian Women Wants to Leave Their Marriages, I Tried Three Times” – Jaiye Kuti.

Prominent Nollywood actress Jaiye Kuti delves into the challenges that numerous women face within their marriages and expresses that many of them eventually contemplate divorce.

During a recent interview, the renowned actress highlights that cultural differences often contribute to the difficulties experienced by couples in their marriages.

Supporting her stance, Jaiye Kuti asserts that couples tend to discover more about each other after tying the knot compared to their courtship days. She emphasizes that these discoveries can be particularly challenging for women.

Citing her personal experience, the actress discloses that she made three attempts to leave her marriage but ultimately found herself unable to do so.

She points out that men, in contrast, seem to view the idea of leaving marriages as easier due to their selfish desire to engage in infidelity.

In her words;

“If you ask hundred women, 85% wants to exit their marriage. I even tried to leave like thrice. The issue is when you marry someone from a different tradition and when a man wants to get married, he would treat and pamper a woman well but the second marriage and children are involved, everyone will start to show their true colours. Also, men can be egocentric in nature; and also can’t be stopped from cheating.”
