PDP Governors to Review Ondo Election Results Amid Allegations of Manipulation

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has announced that it is currently assessing the results of the Ondo State governorship election. This decision was made following a meeting in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, on Saturday.

Last weekend’s election saw Guyer Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) declared the winner. In a statement after the meeting, the PDP Governors accused the APC of tampering with the electoral process.

Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, spoke to the media, indicating that the PDP is closely reviewing the election documents.

“We are still examining the Ondo election outcomes, where we believe the APC manipulated results and engaged in vote-buying,” he remarked.

The Governors emphasized the need for the judiciary to play a role in safeguarding democracy in Nigeria. They also urged the National Assembly to amend electoral laws to prevent institutional disruptions of the people’s will.

The Ondo election occurred roughly two months after the governorship election in Edo State, which the PDP governors referred to as a “rape of democracy.”

They expressed their belief that the PDP candidate in Edo, Asue Ighodalo, was the rightful winner and accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of favoring the APC candidate through manipulated results.
