Court Orders Removal of Adele’s Song from Streaming Platforms Over Copyright Infringement.

A Brazilian court has ruled that Adele’s 2015 song “Million Years Ago” must be removed from all radio and streaming platforms globally due to alleged copyright infringement.

The court’s decision comes after Brazilian composer Toninho Geraes accused Adele of copying his 1996 classic “Mulheres,” sung by Martinho da Vila.

Geraes is seeking $160,000 in moral damages, lost royalties, and a songwriting credit on Adele’s song.

The court has also threatened to fine Sony and Universal’s Brazilian subsidiaries $8,000 for each instance of non-compliance.
