PDP Urges Tinubu to Investigate N25 Trillion Allegations and Address National Crises
Abuja, January 30, 2025 – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified its calls for accountability from President Bola Tinubu, urging him to take immediate action on pressing issues such as rising fuel prices, widespread hunger, and escalating security concerns in Nigeria.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP criticized the administration for what they described as empty rhetoric and failure to implement effective policies over the past 18 months.
The PDP emphasized that President Tinubu must prioritize addressing the critical problems affecting Nigerians as the country enters 2025.
Ologunagba stated, The PDP congratulates Nigerians on the dawning of the year 2025 and charges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to taint the new year with an address that will not proffer immediate and concrete steps to reduce the price of fuel, address widespread hunger, and provide clear-cut measures to guarantee the security of lives and property in the country.
The party accused the government of being disconnected from the realities faced by citizens, particularly regarding economic hardships exacerbated by high fuel prices and food insecurity.
They called for transparency regarding the billions generated from the removal of fuel subsidies and urged investigations into alleged corruption within government ranks.
In addition to addressing immediate concerns, the PDP demanded that President Tinubu order an investigation into over ₦25 trillion reportedly stolen by leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The statement highlighted that many Nigerians are suffering due to what they termed “reckless and wasteful spending” by government officials.
Ologunagba continued, Mr. President should come clean on his public commitment to fight corruption by ordering an investigation and recovery of funds that have been siphoned from government agencies.” The PDP also expressed concern over unresolved cases of state-backed violence and called for accountability regarding past incidents, including the 2020 EndSARS protests.
As Nigeria grapples with significant challenges in governance, the PDP’s calls for accountability reflect a growing frustration among citizens regarding their leaders’ responsiveness to pressing issues.
With rising tensions and dissatisfaction among the populace, it remains to be seen how President Tinubu will address these concerns in his upcoming communications with the nation.
The PDP encourages Nigerians to remain hopeful for a better future while demanding greater transparency and accountability from their government.
