Wike’s Aide Fires Back at Atiku, Says His Past Anti-Party Activities Still Haunting PDP

A heated exchange has erupted between the camps of Nyesom Wike and Atiku Abubakar, with Wike’s aide, Lere Olayinka, accusing Atiku of sowing seeds of anti-party activities in 2003, 2007, and 2014, which still haunt the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today.

Olayinka’s comments came in response to claims by Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, that Wike was involved in anti-party activities. Ibe had pointed to a letter from the PDP to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), canceling the South South Zonal Congress due to operational constraints.

However, despite the cancellation, Wike and his camp went ahead with the Congress, reelecting Dan Orbih as the PDP South South Zonal Vice Chairman. Olayinka countered Ibe’s claims, stating that Atiku’s followers should stop pushing the narrative of their principal running for the presidency again.

He advised Atiku’s supporters to tell their principal to “go and rest,” emphasizing that his past rebellions against the PDP have cost him the opportunity to become Nigeria’s president.
