Trump Suggests He’s Serious About Serving a Third Term as US President.

Donald Trump has reiterated his suggestion of seeking a third term as US president, despite the two-term limit stipulated in the US constitution.

In a phone call with NBC News, Trump said, “I’m not joking” about seeking another term, adding that “there are methods which you could do it.”

This isn’t the first time Trump has floated the idea of serving more than two terms, but his recent remarks are the most concrete in terms of referring to plans to achieve the goal.

To amend the US constitution to allow a third presidential term, Trump would need a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate, which his Republican Party does not currently have.

Alternatively, he would need to get support from two-thirds of the country’s 50 states to call a constitutional convention that would propose changes to the charter. However, both routes appear unlikely given the current political landscape .
