Tribunal Invalidates Election of Kano House of Reps Member Yerima due to Fake Certificate

In a significant ruling, the National and State House of Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal in Kano on Thursday revoked the election of Muktar Yerima, the representative for Tarauni Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The tribunal upheld the petition filed by the former House of Representatives member, Hafizu Kawu, contesting the legitimacy of Yerima’s victory in the February 18th, 2023 election.

The verdict was based on the revelation of a counterfeit certificate presented by Yerima.
