CJ Obasi’s ‘Mami Wata’ set to make a splash in the United Kingdom

The award-winning West African folklore has been acquired by Aya Films, a UK-based distribution company.

According to the Aya Film website, the film will be showcased in 14 states from November 17 to December 7, 2023.

Mami Wata narrates the story of an African mermaid who creates chaos in a village due to conflicts between the villagers and the goddess’ representative regarding the deteriorating condition of the village.

C.J. “Fiery” Obasi serves as the director of this black-and-white film, while Oge Obasi takes on the role of producer.

The talented cast includes Rita Edochie, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Evelyne Ily Juhen, Kelechi Udegbe, and Tough Bone.
