“Prince Ekendilichukwu Nwanjoku, Son of Pioneer PDP Chairman, Endorses South-East PDP’s Decision to Appoint Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as National Secretary”

…… Commends Governor Mbah’s efforts in repositioning the party in the zone

Prince Ekendilichukwu Nwanjoku, the son of the late HRM. Igwe Dr. Godwin Onyioha Nwanjoku, a pioneer elected Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, has thrown his weight behind the recent decision of the South-East Zonal Executive Council (ZEC) to appoint Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the party’s new National Secretary.

In a statement released today, Prince Ekene Nwanjoku lauded the ZEC’s decision, saying that Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who was allowed to concentrate on his gubernatorial election in Imo State last year as the party’s candidate, is, by the position of the party’s constitution, not eligible again to hold the said position after losing the election woefully.

“As the son of a man who dedicated his life to the service of the PDP, I fully support the decision of the South-East ZEC to nominate Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary,” said Prince Nwanjoku. “My father, HRM. Igwe Onyioha Nwanjoku, was a firm believer in the strength and unity of the party (PDP). He worked tirelessly to strengthen the party’s structure and ensure its success at all levels.” “Sen Anyanwu left the position to contest the gubernatorial election in his state, Imo, and by so doing, is no longer the National Secretary of our dear party.”

“There is no argument about it because the constitution of our party is clear on this.” I wonder why the National Working Committee of the party is still delaying to acknowledge Hon. S. Ude Okoye as our National Secretary.”

Prince Nwanjoku also highlighted the importance of unity within the party and not allowing this minute obstacle to cause more troubles because of some persons’ personal interest, stating, “Now more than ever, it is crucial that we come together as a party to support the decision of the Zonal Executive Council on this issue and ensure that the Party is united and prepared to take back its position as the largest political party in West Africa and the best in the South East. I urge all PDP members in the South East to put aside all their differences and add their voice to this issue at hand.” “Our democratic and innovative Governor; His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State who double as the leader of PDP in South East and High Chief Dr. Ali Odefa, the National Zonal Vice Chairman of PDP in South East, are working tirelessly to make our party what it is supposed to be here in the East.”

Prince Ekene Nwanjoku also narrated the efforts of his late father in making the party a fortress in the country, especially in Enugu State, as an indication of why the current National Leadership of the party should, without delay, approve the decisions of South East Zec. The late HRM. Onyioha Nwanjoku, who served as the PDP Chairman in Enugu State from 2000 to 2009, was known for his unwavering commitment to the party and his dedication to the service of humanity. His contributions to the PDP were recognized by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who referred to him as the “Oracle of Politics.”

“There is already an existing court order regarding this issue from Enugu State high court.”

“This order has to be respected so that the souls of my late father and other personalities who labored for the party would be at rest and happy wherever they are because their hard work wasn’t in futility.”

Prince Nwanjoku, however, called on the National Working Committee of the PDP to swiftly ratify the ZEC’s decision and expressed his confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.

“I urge the National Working Committee to accept the decision of the ZEC without delay,” said Prince Nwanjoku. “Let us honor the legacy of my father and other great leaders whom layed their lives for the unity of our party and work together to ensure the success of PDP in the entire South-East and beyond!”
