“I have never been arrested” – Davido

Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has refuted claims of his arrest while on his East Africa tour on April 1, 2024. On Monday, certain media outlets alleged that the musician had been detained during his tour.

In a statement issued via his official channels on Tuesday, Davido clarified that the reports were false, emphasizing that he had a successful tour in Uganda and Kenya and has since returned to Nigeria. He asserted that he has maintained a clean record throughout his career, having never been arrested for any offense.


Davido expressed his intention to take legal action against those responsible for spreading the misleading information, underscoring his commitment to addressing false claims made against him.


“I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’, and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinformation,” the statement read partly.
