Tanko dismisses claims that Peter Obi received N850m from Abure.
Dr Yunusa Tanko, the Chief Spokesman for Obi-Datti, has responded to allegations made by Mr Calistus Okafofor regarding the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Bar Julius Abure, giving N850 million to presidential candidate Peter Obi for the 2023 election.
Tanko denies these claims, stating that Obi did not receive any funds from the party. He challenges Okafor to provide evidence if he was actually told by the chairman that money was given to Obi for campaigning.
Tanko emphasizes that he was heavily involved in the campaign and aware of expenses, and to his knowledge, the party never directly provided funds to support Obi’s campaign events.
He also highlights that Obi and his supporters are aware of the recent efforts to defame him, aimed at undermining his growing popularity among the Nigerian people.
“We are aware that people are already scheming for 2027 and it is unfortunate that certain individuals have chosen to divert attention from the high rate of insecurity and poverty that are currently threatening the very existence of our nation by constantly attacking the personality of Peter Obi.
“Those are the enemies of Nigeria and Nigerians but l know that God will disappoint them and rescue our country from their grips whether they believe it or not”.
