AAC Condemns FCT Minister Wike Over ‘Intimidation Remarks’ on Council Elections, Vows to Resist APC, PDP Domination

The African Action Congress (AAC) has strongly criticized Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike for what it described as “intimidating and undemocratic comments” regarding the upcoming FCT Area Council elections.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, the AAC accused Wike of attempting to suppress democratic opposition by implying that only the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are viable contenders in the elections.

AAC National Publicity Secretary, Femi Adeyeye, condemned Wike’s remarks as “reckless and unconstitutional,” stating that democracy cannot thrive where the electoral field is skewed in favour of just two parties. He emphasized that AAC remains committed to mobilizing across Abuja to challenge the dominance of APC and PDP, which he described as “two sides of the same corrupt coin.”

The party also warned against any form of electoral manipulation or suppression, asserting that the people of the FCT deserve free, fair, and inclusive elections.

Adeyeye concluded that the AAC would actively contest in the local council elections and will rally Abuja’s youth and working-class voters against the establishment parties.
