Abuja Lady Escapes Suspected Kidnapper by Jumping from Moving Car in Kubwa

A young Nigerian lady has narrowly escaped being kidnapped in Kubwa, Abuja, after unknowingly boarding a vehicle belonging to a suspected kidnapper.

The incident, which was narrated on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), has sparked fresh concerns about rising insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the victim, who shared her ordeal via @ABUJAPLUG, she had been waiting at Kubwa junction for a coaster bus but, after an hour without success, decided to board a taxi.

She explained that she was the only passenger in the vehicle when the driver headed to a nearby park to pick up more passengers. However, chaos broke out when someone in the crowd suddenly identified the driver as a known kidnapper.

Immediately, the driver zoomed off with her still inside the car.

“All the doors were still open, and before I knew it, the man sped off. I didn’t think twice — I jumped out of the moving car. I rolled on the floor and people from the junction rushed to help me. I had bruises all over my body,” she recalled.

The lady revealed she had been secretly attending aviation school against her parents’ wishes, and had been cutting costs by taking cheaper public transport. On the day of the incident, she opted for a taxi after waiting endlessly for a bus.

Her post has since gone viral, attracting reactions from concerned Nigerians.

One user, @grace_Dam7, wrote: “Somehow when I’m about to enter a car, if a man is occupying the front seat and another guy is at the back only, I rethink. Especially around that Banex side, omooo.”

Another, @Ab_PrimeDeals, lamented: “Omo, what’s happening in Abuja mehn? Why are the security agencies not doing something about this?”

The terrifying encounter has reignited debates on the dangers of “one-chance” kidnappings in Abuja and the need for stronger security measures to protect commuters.
