Adamawa Governor Increases NYSC Corps Members’ Allowance to ₦30,000

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state, raising it from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000.

Governor Fintiri made the announcement on Friday during the official swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.

He emphasized his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of corps members and creating a supportive environment for them throughout their service year.

“As a government, we are committed to improving the welfare of corps members. This increment aligns with our promise to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you,” he stated.

The governor also reaffirmed his broader commitment to youth development, noting that the new allowance complements other welfare initiatives such as food support and healthcare. He further disclosed plans to establish a new NYSC orientation camp in the state, with preparations already underway.

In an innovative move, Fintiri directed the NYSC State Coordinator to involve corps members with relevant professional backgrounds such as architecture, civil engineering, and quantity surveying in supervising the camp construction project. This, he said, would give them practical experience and contribute meaningfully to state development.

Welcoming the newly deployed corps members, Fintiri described them as strategic assets in advancing key government policies, especially in education and community development. He urged them to demonstrate discipline, actively engage with their host communities, and embrace service with a sense of responsibility.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Osoro Caroline, lauded the corps members for their discipline and vibrant participation in camp activities. She praised Governor Fintiri for his consistent support, describing him as a “visionary leader and a beacon of youth empowerment in Nigeria.”

The event also featured the administration of the oath of allegiance by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, as well as the presentation of the official NYSC journal to the governor.
