“ADC Affa/Ikono/Oghu Ward Reaffirms Party Strength, Passes Vote of No Confidence on Enugu Speaker”
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Affa/Ikono/Oghu Ward, on Friday, held its monthly ward meeting where members reaffirmed their loyalty to the party’s national, state, and local government leadership while taking firm political positions on issues affecting Udi North Constituency and Enugu State.
Speaking at the meeting, ward leaders commended party stakeholders for consolidating ADC’s presence at the grassroots, declaring that the party has established a solid political base within the ward. The meeting also featured the issuance of ADC membership cards to new members who recently joined the party.

Rising from the meeting, the ward passed a vote of no confidence on the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu, accusing him of poor legislative performance over the past seven years. Party leaders stated that his tenure has failed to attract meaningful development to the constituency. They also warned against any attempt to alter the zoning arrangement or extend tenure in a manner that would allow him complete a third term as Speaker while representing Udi North Constituency.
The ward called on the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, to ensure the completion of abandoned road projects initiated during the administration of former Governor Sullivan Chime between 2007 and 2015. Members noted that communities in the area, with an estimated voting strength of over 75,000 voters, continue to demand visible government intervention.
In another resolution, ADC members appealed to their illustrious son, Hon. Ijegalu Chidozie Andrew, to contest the Enugu State House of Assembly seat in the 2027 general election. The party said the call was informed by his track record of empowerment through private enterprise and the belief that he possesses the capacity to deliver effective representation.
The meeting also served as a rallying point for political harmony, as the ward urged all Affa indigenes to align politically for collective progress, stressing that governance revolves around the fair allocation of values and opportunities.
Party leaders maintained that the agitation is rooted in the demand for equal representation and fair access to power, which they believe will strengthen democratic practice and improve governance outcomes.
The meeting ended with a call for unity and sustained mobilisation ahead of future political engagements.
