ADC’s Amb. Yisa Vows to Block APC Rigging in 2027 Elections
Professor Mohammed Gana Yisa, former Nigerian Ambassador to Japan and one-time Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, has vowed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will not manipulate the 2027 general elections.
Now a key leader in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Yisa criticized the collapse of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara, asserting that the opposition party has lost its influence in the state. He dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu would hand over Kwara to former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki as baseless.
Yisa explained that repeated electoral failures prompted his decision to leave PDP. “After the 2019 and 2023 elections, it was clear that PDP no longer held the capacity to win or influence outcomes. Remaining with a party that cannot deliver results was no longer tenable,” he said.
Addressing Saraki’s supposed influence, Yisa described expectations of Tinubu ceding Kwara to Saraki as unrealistic. “No politician willingly hands over votes to the opposition. Believing otherwise is merely wishful thinking,” he added.
On choosing ADC, Yisa said the party presents a credible alternative for Kwara. “ADC is gaining traction with capable leaders joining from various parties. We are working strategically across the state, and once officially unveiled, ADC will provide the leadership Kwara deserves,” he explained.
Yisa identified hunger and insecurity as central issues the party intends to tackle. Citing examples of extreme poverty and banditry, he emphasized that citizens deserve a government that prioritizes their welfare.
Regarding electoral integrity, Yisa warned that APC may attempt rigging in 2027, but ADC is preparing measures to counteract any manipulation. “We are more vigilant this time. Citizens’ votes will count, and APC will not succeed in undermining the process,” he stressed.
On the governorship debate, Yisa stated ADC’s current focus is building a strong party structure before addressing power rotation. “Our priority is to solidify ADC’s presence and effectiveness. Once the foundation is strong, zoning and other issues will follow,” he said.
Concluding his message to Kwarans, Yisa urged voters not to be misled by unfulfilled promises. “APC has failed, PDP has collapsed, and rumors of agreements with Tinubu are false. ADC is actively mobilizing across the state and will emerge as a genuine alternative. By 2027, business as usual will be over,” he affirmed.
