SOKOTO – A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider and adjust his administration’s harsh economic policies, emphasizing that Nigerians are experiencing widespread suffering and hardship.Dingyadi, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the PDP National Chairman, criticized the current administration’s approach to governance, stating that it has exacerbated poverty, hunger, and insecurity across the country. He noted that the government’s failure to address essential needs has led to increased hardship, with countless Nigerians struggling to survive amid skyrocketing costs of living and inadequate welfare measures.
Citing recent incidents in states like Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory, Dingyadi highlighted the tragic loss of lives during chaotic food distribution events, underscoring the desperation of citizens in dire economic conditions.
“The government must reconsider its approach and prioritize the welfare and well-being of Nigerians. Policies should focus on alleviating suffering rather than worsening the plight of ordinary citizens,” Dingyadi said.
He criticized what he described as the administration’s lack of compassion, stating, “President Tinubu’s government appears more focused on introducing policies that deepen hardship and suppress the masses rather than providing meaningful relief.”
Dingyadi expressed concern over the perceived silence and inaction of key stakeholders, including the National Assembly, accusing them of failing to hold the executive accountable.
“Many members of the National Assembly seem to have abandoned their responsibility to represent the people. Instead of working to improve the lives of Nigerians, they have become part of the burden ordinary citizens must bear,” he said.
He added that, two years into President Tinubu’s administration, there has been no significant improvement in citizens’ lives. Instead, those who had hoped for economic relief now find themselves among the hardest hit by hardship.
Focusing on the northern region, Dingyadi lamented the deteriorating security situation in states such as Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, and Katsina, where farming activities have been disrupted, leaving once self-sufficient communities unable to produce food for their survival.

“This disruption in agriculture has crippled local economies and worsened food insecurity in these regions,” he said.
Calling for decisive action from the government, Dingyadi urged President Tinubu to lead by example and show Nigerians a clear path toward economic recovery and stability.
“As leaders, you must demonstrate how things should be done, not just impose policies without guiding the people. Currently, about 70% of Nigerians have been reduced to beggars, relying on government palliatives for survival,” he concluded.
Dingyadi’s appeal reflects growing concerns among citizens and stakeholders about the urgent need for policy adjustments to alleviate widespread economic hardship and improve the overall welfare of Nigerians.
