Anambra Assembly Swears In Azikiwe as Onitsha North Constituency One Member-Elect
The Anambra State House of Assembly has officially sworn in Barrister Ifeoma Mimi Azikiwe as the representative for Onitsha North Constituency One.
Her inauguration follows a decisive victory in the recent by-election, where she ran on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Azikiwe secured the seat with a commanding lead, garnering 7,774 votes, defeating her closest rival from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mrs. Justice Azuka. The by-election was held to fill the vacancy after the untimely death of the former lawmaker representing the constituency.
The swearing-in ceremony was marked by the attendance of state officials and political stakeholders, reinforcing the significance of the event as APGA continues to consolidate its influence in Anambra politics. The party has maintained dominance in the state assembly since Nigeria’s return to democracy.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who recently flagged off major developmental projects in Onitsha, urged the electorate to support APGA candidates to ensure continuity of development and political stability in the region.
Azikiwe, a daughter of Onitsha, expressed gratitude to her supporters and pledged to represent the constituency with dedication and transparency promising to work towards the socio-economic advancement of her people.
The swearing-in of Barrister Ifeoma Azikiwe symbolizes a renewed commitment to governance and the sustained political relevance of APGA in Anambra State.
