Anambra Govt Calls on Residents to Engage in Voter Registration Exercise
The Anambra State Government has called on all eligible residents to take part in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which commenced on July 8 and will run until July 17, 2025, across the state.
The registration, organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), offers an opportunity for citizens to obtain or update their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the crucial Anambra Governorship Election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, emphasized that the voter registration exercise is critical to strengthening democratic participation and ensuring that all voices are represented in the upcoming polls.
“This exercise is vital to ensuring inclusive participation in the democratic process,” Mefor said. “It is especially important for young people who have just turned 18, residents who have relocated to Anambra and wish to transfer their voter records, and individuals needing to replace lost or damaged voter cards.”
The state government is encouraging everyone within these categories to visit their nearest INEC registration centre to complete the process. For additional information and registration requirements, citizens are advised to visit the official INEC website.
Participation in the voter registration process is essential to building a responsive and inclusive democratic system. The government sees this initiative as a key step toward increasing voter turnout and empowering citizens to choose their leaders.
The government is therefore appealing to community leaders, youth groups, and the media to help mobilize eligible voters before the July 17 deadline.
