Annkio Briggs Demands Accountability: Ex-Rivers Administrator Ibok-Ete Ibas Must Explain State Spending

Human rights activist Annkio Briggs has declared that former sole administrator of Rivers State, Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, must provide a full account of how he managed state funds during his six-month tenure.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television on Sunday, Briggs maintained that Ibas could not simply walk away after overseeing the state without explaining how its resources were used.

She stressed that Rivers residents have the right to demand accountability, noting that public money cannot be spent without proper scrutiny.

“He (Ibok-Ete Ibas) spent our money. He has to account to the people of Rivers State, even to Nigerians, for the sake of integrity and justice,” Briggs said. “You cannot come into a state, take charge of all its resources and funds, stay there for six months, and just leave as if you were never there.

The truth is, he spent our money, and that money belongs to the people.”
