Apostle Suleman tells men: Support fellow men more than women
Apostle Johnson Suleman, General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, has stirred controversy online after advising young men to prioritize helping other men instead of women.
The cleric made the statement during a recent sermon that quickly went viral on social media, sparking mixed reactions.
Explaining his stance, Suleman said men who support each other are more likely to build lasting partnerships and avoid scandals. While acknowledging that some women are appreciative and God-fearing, he insisted that helping them often comes with risks.
“As a young man, let me give you some counsel; help more males than females. ‘Aah papa, are you against the females?’ No, let the females help themselves. Do you know why? When you help a man, you have a team.
When you help a lady, wait for a scandal. Not all of them, maybe ten per cent… but most times you stand a better chance helping men like you.”
Suleman admitted he expected backlash but maintained his advice came from personal experience, not public opinion.
“I know this statement is going to go somehow but I don’t care, I am speaking from my experience. This is my opinion and I am entitled to it,” he said.
The remarks have since ignited heated reactions. While some backed his perspective, others criticized it as unfair and dismissive of women’s struggles.
Instagram user @certifiedangel1_ shared: “I am the only girl in my family. I have 4 brothers, nobody helps or sends my brothers money apart from my parents 😢😢😢… Please help men, support men, men need more help than women.”
@reativeoliver joked: “This man was my project supervisor at Geh Geh university. Ride on sir 🙌🏾.”
@nosadeborah added: “True talk. But dem nor go listen… dem go still help my gender more cos of Nyash and Bobby 😂😂😂😂😂 Men sha.”
Another user, @domingo_loso, agreed: “Valid point. Most men no dey forget the good you do for them. When you help them no matter how little, he will feel indebted to you.”
But @georginatvcomedy countered: “If you are in the position to help, don’t let gender obstruct you. Even God helps both sinners and believers.”
The video of Suleman’s sermon continues to trend, drawing more debate across social platforms.
