Arewa Community Warns VDM Over Potential Threats to Northerners Following Edo Incident
Tensions have risen on social media after Faarees, a representative of the Arewa community, criticized Nigerian influencer VeryDarkMan (VDM) over recent statements regarding a tragic accident in Edo State.
VDM had earlier shared a video claiming that three individuals died in Auchi following an incident involving a Dangote truck, which struck Phyna’s sister, resulting in the amputation of her left leg and severe injuries to her right.
The Arewa community expressed concern over VDM’s actions and issued a stern warning, emphasizing that any harm to Northerners stemming from his conduct would be his responsibility.
Faarees stated:
“Who gave VDM the authority to stop anyone on the road? He is a civilian like any other Nigerian and has no right to act as a law enforcement officer. If his actions endanger Northerners, he will be held accountable.”
The warning sparked debates online, with Nigerians expressing mixed reactions. Some supported the Arewa community’s stance, urging restraint and accountability, while others criticized what they viewed as selective concern or overreaction.
Social media reactions included:
- @Viral9ja_com: “What authority are you talking about? The tragic incident happened did you not see it? We deserve better.”
- @Acee_Rivas: “Not just Northerners, but all citizens. Every Nigerian’s safety matters. Why single out one group?”
- @udeochusp: “VDM is passionate about defending people’s rights, but he did overstep this time.”
- @UstazNazir: “VDM is overdoing it. If I were Dangote, I would take legal action to check his ego.”
The incident highlights growing concerns over social media activism, public accountability, and the fine line between advocacy and overreach in Nigeria.
