Arise News Staff, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, Dies After Abuja Robbery Incident

Fresh details have emerged regarding the tragic passing of Arise News Channel staff, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, sparking an outpouring of condolences from fans, colleagues, and well-wishers.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, when Maduagwu’s residence in Abuja was reportedly targeted during an armed robbery. Security personnel at the scene attempted to contact the police but received no response.

Somtochukwu and the security guard were rushed to Maitama District Hospital; tragically, both died. Relatives revealed that delays in medical treatment contributed to their deaths, as hospital staff reportedly refused care until identification documents were produced.

During her career at Arise News Channel, Somtochukwu Maduagwu was celebrated for her professionalism and passion for journalism. She had a background in law and was also a former beauty queen, having won the Miss Tourism Nigeria pageant and represented the country at the Miss Tourism World pageant in China in 2023.

Her untimely death has left a void in both the journalism community and among those who admired her work.
