Arise TV’s Rufai Oseni Urges Tinubu to Honor Naval Officer Who Stood Up to Wike: “Power Met Principle”

Arise Television journalist, Rufai Oseni, has called on President Bola Tinubu to award a national honor to Lieutenant A.M. Yarima, the Nigerian Naval officer who recently confronted the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during a tense exchange in Abuja.

The viral video, which continues to stir reactions across social media, shows the officer maintaining his composure as Wike berated him over a disputed property issue.

Despite being provoked, Lieutenant Yarima remained calm and respectful, earning widespread admiration from Nigerians.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rufai Oseni described the officer as a “model of integrity,” praising his discipline under pressure.

“That officer deserves a national award calm, firm, and collected while Wike was busy behaving like a TikTok skit maker,” Oseni wrote.

The journalist highlighted the officer’s memorable response when Wike reportedly called him a fool. Yarima had replied, “I’m not a fool, sir. I have integrity.” According to Oseni, that simple but powerful statement “ended the argument” and revealed the clear contrast between arrogance and wisdom.

Oseni went on to criticize Wike’s attempt to assert authority by referring to his age and experience, quoting the minister as saying, “You were in primary school when I graduated.” The Arise TV host compared it to similar remarks made by other politicians who resort to seniority when they lack logical defense.
