Army Commends Aiyedatiwa for Swift Action Against ISWAP Threat in Ondo
The Nigerian Army has praised the Ondo State Government for its prompt and decisive action following intelligence reports of a planned terrorist attack by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in parts of the state.
According to reports, the Department of State Services (DSS) had issued an alert warning of a potential ISWAP operation targeting Eriti-Akoko, Oyin-Akoko, and Owo in Ondo State. In response, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa convened an emergency security meeting and directed all security agencies to be on full alert.
Speaking during a visit to the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, in Akure, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Major Njoka Irabor, commended the governor for his swift and proactive leadership in ensuring the safety of residents. He noted that Aiyedatiwa’s immediate response reflected his administration’s strong commitment to protecting lives and property.
Irabor also expressed appreciation to the Ondo State Government for its continued support of the military and other security agencies, recalling that the governor recently provided operational vehicles and equipment to enhance their efficiency. He reaffirmed the army’s commitment to maintaining peace and collaborating with other security formations to keep the state safe for residents and investors.
In his remarks, Commissioner Ajanaku thanked the Nigerian Army for its dedication and assured that the Ministry of Information would continue supporting security efforts through public awareness and community sensitization. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies, emphasizing that timely intelligence from the public is vital to preventing attacks and sustaining peace across the state.
