Arsenal Secure Brentford Midfielder Christian Norgaard in £12 Million Deal
Arsenal Football Club have officially announced the signing of Danish international Christian Norgaard from Brentford. The 31-year-old midfielder joins the Gunners in a deal reportedly worth an initial £10 million, with an additional £2 million in potential add-ons, according to The Athletic.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised the acquisition, describing Norgaard as a player with “a wealth of experience” and highlighting his leadership and tactical intelligence.
“We’re delighted to welcome Christian to Arsenal,” Arteta said in a club statement. “He is an international player with extensive Premier League experience. His proven leadership, strong character, and tactical versatility will be invaluable to our squad.”
Norgaard, who made 196 appearances and scored 13 goals for Brentford, played a pivotal role in solidifying the club’s Premier League status over the past four seasons.
Arteta added: “Christian is a strong and intelligent midfielder with excellent positional awareness and physical presence. He brings balance and depth to our midfield.”
The Dane becomes Arsenal’s third signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Spanish midfielder Martín Zubimendi and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Reports also suggest that the North London club is close to completing a £70 million move for Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon.
