Atiku Abubakar Praises Hilda Baci for Setting Guinness World Record with Largest Nigerian Jollof Rice Dish.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has applauded celebrity chef Hilda Baci for achieving a new Guinness World Record by preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing an astonishing 8,780 kilograms.
The feat was accomplished on Friday, September 12, 2025, in Victoria Island, Lagos, where thousands of supporters and food enthusiasts gathered to witness the remarkable cooking event. The Guinness World Records officially confirmed the achievement on Monday.
Atiku took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the success, writing: “Congratulations to Hilda Baci and Gino for setting a new world record with the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. It is a reminder that our people can break records, set standards, and inspire the world.”
Hilda Baci, who first gained international attention in 2023 for breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon, has solidified her place as one of Nigeria’s most prominent culinary figures.
The jollof rice was cooked using a specially designed pot capable of holding 23,000 liters. The recipe utilized 4,000 kilograms of rice, 500 cartons of tomato paste, 600 kilograms of onions, and 168 kilograms of goat meat, producing enough food to serve approximately 20,000 people.
The event attracted notable personalities, including Nollywood actress Funke Akindele, the Ogun State First Lady Bamidele Abiodun, and various entertainers and influencers who contributed to the celebration.
This monumental achievement has once again placed Nigerian cuisine at the forefront of global culinary excellence, inspiring pride among Nigerians at home and abroad.
