Atiku Should Write a Book on Political Defections-Oshiomole

Senator Adams Oshiomhole (APC, Edo North) has described former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as Nigeria’s most notable political defector, suggesting he is uniquely qualified to author a book on party switching.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Oshiomhole highlighted Atiku’s frequent party changes as unmatched in the country’s political history.

“The most well-known defector in Nigeria’s politics is His Excellency Atiku Abubakar,” he stated.Oshiomhole recalled Atiku’s move from the PDP to the Action Congress (AC) while still serving as vice president, emphasizing that it wasn’t influenced by any state authority.

He questioned the perception that the APC lacks unity, arguing that Atiku’s frequent defections reflect personal ambition rather than ideology.

He challenged claims of external pressure behind Atiku’s party shifts, citing his voluntary exits and returns, including his movement from the PDP to the AC, back to the PDP, then to the APC, and again to the PDP.

“I believe Atiku Abubakar is the most qualified person to write a book on political defections in Nigeria,” Oshiomhole concluded.
