Due to the unfortunate bombing by the Nigeria Army at Tudun Biri village in Igabi Local Government of the State which led to so many casualties, Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, during his visit yesterday at the emergency care centre within the state, condoles with the victimized patients, widows and widowers with the sum of 5million naira in support of the staff, families of the deceased and patients still receiving treatment.

However, during his interview with press, he first expressed his appreciation for the hardwork and efforts of the military in helping to secure the country but questions the insecurities in our land for the lives of about 500,000 people who were lost in this accident and inefficiency of government to support the military in securing their people rather than buying SUVs and renovating buildings.

Showing his hospitality and sympathizing with the grieving families, he says a word of prayer and word of encouragement to the families and people of Nigeria when he said, ” I pray to God Almighty to grant them quick recovery. I thank the government of Kaduna State for their kind and caring intervention for the affected victims. I urge governments at all levels, and the good people of Nigeria to help in setting up a foundation for compensation of families affected in this particular incident and similar incidents in the past, and most importantly, in educating the young children orphaned in this incident.”

Meanwhile, at this challenging time, there is now a need for extra caution in the operations of the military and other security agencies.

Simon Ekpa, the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE), have declared a 5-day long sit-at-home in Southeast over the continuous detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Following the demand by the Biafra people for more sit-at-home civil disobedience, Simon Ekpa gives order to all Indigenous People of Biafra when he says, “The Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE) and Biafra De Facto Government-In-Homeland wish to notify Biafrans that there will be sit-at-home civil disobedience starting from 15th December 2023 to 19th December 2023.”

He went further to explain the following reasons to which the sit-at-home order was made which includes:

  1. Demand the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who remains illegally detained at the DSS dungeon and his next court date is on the 15th of December 2023.
  2. To Protest against Nigeria being officially addressed as an Islamic state by the United Kingdom Government as recently pronounced by the UK Secretary for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Lord David Cameron. This is happening while Biafrans are not Muslims and can never be.

In the same vein, Simon Ekpa questions the Nigerians media for always omitting number 2 in all social media handles lamenting that the Nigeria media prefers to be an Islamic State.

The gathering of eminent leaders across the globe including the Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the official unveiling of the United Nations Convention for Conserving River Delta’s (UNCCRD) at the 2023 climate change conference, COP28 UAE, Dubai.

After Nigeria signed a treaty for the Climate Change Act in 2021in position to demonstrate their commitment in the issue of climate change, the 2023 COP28 conference shows a grave interest to the president and the nation because it still remains a global issue in cases like deforestation, flood and the likes of it where it affects the country’s ecosystem and human resources.

Nonetheless, business day reports that the cost of flight tickets of 590 government delegates out of the 1,411 that joined president Tinubu to the conference meeting is estimated and costing 880,000,000 naira in terms of transportation for these number of people. Moreover, the welfare for these delegates I’m Dubai would give us an idea of the starving amount it is costing Nigerians because these expenses were all made from the common wealth of Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) @OfficialPDPNig queries president Bola Tinubu @officialABAT over his conceitful delegation of 1,411 individuals to the conference of the parties (COP28) in Dubai, which is reportedly brimming with his cronies, political minions and their mistresses at huge expense to the nation. However, saying, “Tinubu-led administration is wasteful, frivolous and reckless in the application of the scarce resources of the nation, especially at a time Nigerians are yearning for prudent management of resources to achieve the desired infrastructural regeneration, job creation and revamping of the country’s economy.”

Moreover, as Peter Obi extends his approbation to Nigeria for being at the 2023 COP28 in Dubai. He also expressed his twist of sad irony where he said, “Nigerian’s contingent of COP28 totalled 1,411, same number as Chinese, migrating the highest number of its citizens out of poverty over a relatively short time. As we have kept emphasizing, we must stop waste as a tradition of our government and nation. We urgently need to cut the cost of governance and invest in productions.”

In respect to the conference meeting, president Tinubu seeks investment in alternative energy.

Spokesperson of Atiku Abubakar in the presidential campaign organization of 2023 general election, Daniel Bwala, shares his opinion and review on the appeal court rulings and electoral reforms.

Meanwhile, at his interview with Arise News, “The Morning Show”, where he said, “We have seen conflicting decisions from the court of appeal against PDP. Facts and cases may differ but the principle of law must be constant.”

In respect to the reforms and the way forward, he further elaborated the issue on “All Eyes On The Judiciary”, where he explains that the people tend to take that a person is trying to blackmail the judiciary which is not true, but instead, our hope now lies on how the judiciary would interprete from the supreme court.

In the same vein, he tried to point out the case between Plateau State and supreme court and later having to be a case between the supreme court and the court of appeal, however, having nothing to do with the sanctity and integrity of the Apex court itself because the supreme court would have to determine whether the judgement they delivered in presidential election tribunal is to be carried out by subordinate court in Nigeria because it is made clear that a decision by the final court is called a “settled law”. In other words, the supreme court would have to determine whether the court of appeal is above it or below them.

Moreover , in the House of Assembly, which gives room for the constitutional amendment and was open to some reforms from the Deputy Senate President for a bill which was sponsored by the national assembly and which some states knocked down, made provisions for pre-pre election, pre-election, and then the election tribunal. These bills were solely to prevent situations when a person wins an election and the court removes him for whatever reason.

In this case, whatever question that arose from the congress must be determined before primary starts up to the apex court that will have a judgement over it. Meanwhile, whatever happens before election tribunal must be finished before the election; what happens in the election must be determined by the election tribunal in respect to the electoral act.

Therefore, for these reforms to be effective, the INEC chairman must be changed.

The national chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, receives the APC gubernatorial candidate in Plateau State, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, who was just announced as the winner of March 18th governorship election in the state by Court of Appeal.

The unanimous judgement at the tribunal sitting in Abuja nullifies the gubernatorial candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Caleb Muftwang as the governor of Plateau State and declares Nentawe Goshwe the winner of the 2023 governorship election.

The APC candidate, Nentawe Goshwe challenged the victory of Muftwang of PDP at the appeal court, alleging that he was not qualified to contest the election because he was validly sponsored and nominated by his political party.

The three-member panel headed by the lead Justice, Williams-Dawodu, agreed with the plaintiff by saying that the failure of the PDP to comply with the 2020 order of Plateau State’s High Court directing to conduct valid ward, local governments and state Congress before nominating its candidate for the various elective posts and the Court of Appeal’s order in CA/J1/93/2021 was a breach of the law.

In contrary of the judgement made by the panel asserted that the issue of qualification was both a pre and post election matter under section 177(c) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution and section section 80 & 82 of the Electoral Act, 2022 as amended.

Appeal Court in it’s verdict ordered the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return given to Mustang and issue a fresh one to Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe of All Progressive Congress (APC), as the valid winner of the election.

Through many years of my youth, I have witnessed so many cultures and traditions that has been followed through till this present generation commonly in places like Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba to be precise. Their various lifestyles has been their stronghold and pride whereby people living in these ethnic groups follow the footsteps of their ancestors and customs or practices in their land and these factors may include their religion, festivity, marriage rites, language, values and beliefs, food and/or diet, art, to mention just few.

Based on the aforementioned, these factors are centered majorly on crisis found within marriage rites of two different people[man and woman] from different ethic groups who falls in love with each other but are yet still battling to push through with their plan to be together and build their homes without further interference of both families or extended family members. This problem often begin during the first stage of the relationship between the man and the woman where either of them is mentally debating if their union would last for a lifetime or prolly momentarily. A typical example of this can be seen when a woman born in an Igbo land and practice Christianity gets herself engaged with a Muslim man. These two grown couple sometimes debate within themselves whether their union would yield something beautiful or chaos after saying “YES!” to marring him especially if he/she is the first to marry from a totally different place other than their land.

Moreover, questions like this keeps popping into their heads…
“Am I making the right choice?”
“ Is his family going to accept me?”
“What would become of me and our children if we eventually neglect these warnings from our families?”
“Would these choices make or break my family apart especially with our kids?”
“Would this make me abandon my religion that I have been practicing for years for his/hers?” etc.

Meanwhile, they battle their conscience day and night trying to find answers to their confusion and/or problems to satisfy their curiosities even when they are both comfortable being with each other. Due to this reason, either of them may start to find other alternatives, that is, seeking out for another partner causing him to lose his/her attention or focus in the other which could result to infidelity and less communication all for the sake of not jeopardizing his/her family.

Parents on the other hand should quit any form of stereotypes and discouragement when they discover plans like this with their child or children due to past experiences encountered by themselves or people close to them. In that case, they should try to educate them on what to expect, or the possible changes that may occur when being married to these group of people[Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba etc] or otherwise help to guide them if ever they come across any sort of difficulties in their marriages because it only “TAKES TWO TO TANGO”.
