Bandits Abduct Two Women in Night Raid on Kwara Community, Heightening Insecurity Fears

Armed bandits have kidnapped two women in a late-night assault on Edogi Chapa village, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, further intensifying security concerns in the troubled Kwara North region.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits launched a fresh attack on Edogi Chapa village around 11:00 p.m., firing sporadically before abducting two women from their homes and fleeing to an undisclosed location. The incident plunged the quiet community into chaos and fear, according to reports from NupekoTV-Lafiagi.

This latest abduction marks another disturbing chapter in the rising wave of insecurity across Kwara North, particularly in Patigi LGA, which has witnessed repeated attacks, kidnappings, and armed invasions in recent weeks.

Efforts to obtain an official statement from the Kwara State Police Command proved unsuccessful. The command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, did not respond to calls or messages at the time of filing this report.

The attack follows a series of coordinated assaults across the region. On June 6, 2025, gunmen invaded three communities in the Lafiagi Emirate, abducting a prominent businessman and a woman, and killing one resident during a violent spree.

In another recent episode, vigilantes in Lata Nna were ambushed, their vehicles set ablaze, and terrified residents were forced to flee. Prior to that, a POS agent named Yman was kidnapped alongside the two children of another POS operator in Lafiagi, while a popular agrochemical dealer, Alhaji Chemical, was also seized by gunmen.
