Barcelona Secure Jules Koundé Until 2030 Amid Manchester City Interest
Barcelona have officially tied down French defender Jules Koundé with a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2030, ending months of speculation about a potential Premier League move.
The 26-year-old was reportedly on Manchester City’s radar as a potential replacement for Kyle Walker, especially after the club withdrew from talks with Tino Livramento. However, Koundé has reaffirmed his commitment to the Catalan giants.
According to trusted transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, all parties have fully agreed on the new deal. Legal documentation has been approved, with final formalities expected to conclude soon.
Koundé, whose initial contract was set to expire in 2027, was one of Barça’s standout performers last season. He made 53 appearances across all competitions and scored four goals, including one in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid.
With this extension, Barcelona have ensured that Koundé remains a cornerstone of their defensive setup for the foreseeable future.
The centre-back is currently participating in pre-season training and is expected to play in the Joan Gamper Trophy clash against Como on August 10, ahead of the La Liga opener versus Mallorca on August 16.
