Bayern Munich Enter Race for Eberechi Eze, Threatening Arsenal’s Transfer Plans

Arsenal’s efforts to land Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze may be in jeopardy as Bayern Munich have emerged as serious contenders for the England international, according to The Sun.

The German champions are reportedly eyeing Eze as a key addition to bolster their attacking options following the long-term injury to Jamal Musiala and the recent exits of Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller. Newly appointed manager Vincent Kompany is said to be driving the move, hoping to reunite Eze with former Palace teammate Michael Olise, who joined Bayern earlier in the window.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is believed to view Eze as a vital component in his tactical revamp at the Emirates, describing the midfielder as the “final piece” in the club’s title-chasing squad. The Gunners are on the verge of securing striker Viktor Gyökeres and had planned to follow up with a formal bid for Eze. However, Bayern’s sudden involvement could derail those plans.

Eze, 27, is coming off a stellar 2023/24 campaign in which he tallied 14 goals and 11 assists, including a decisive strike in the FA Cup final. His performances have elevated his profile both domestically and internationally, recently earning him his first goal for England.

The midfielder’s £68 million release clause places him within reach of Europe’s top clubs, and with Arsenal yet to submit an official offer, Bayern could take the lead in negotiations. Reports suggest the Bundesliga giants are also monitoring Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku as a backup option, having already missed out on Liverpool-bound Florian Wirtz.

As both clubs weigh their next moves, the race for Eze is heating up — and Arsenal may need to act fast to avoid missing out on one of the Premier League’s standout performers.
