Bayo Onanuga Accuses Peter Obi of Supporting Foreign Intervention Over Trump’s Threats

Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga has condemned Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi for appearing to endorse foreign intervention in Nigeria.

The criticism follows Obi’s response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent warning over the alleged persecution of Christians in the country.

Trump had stated that he would not hesitate to take military action if Nigerian authorities failed to protect Christian communities.

A video circulating online shows Obi suggesting that he would accept external assistance to address the nation’s security challenges.

Onanuga, who serves as Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, described Obi’s remarks as unacceptable, asserting that they amounted to supporting a foreign invasion.

He warned: “We shall never forget and forgive Peter Obi for supporting a foreign invasion of Nigeria.”

The incident has sparked renewed debate over Nigeria’s security situation, foreign involvement, and the role of political leaders in national sovereignty.
