BBNaija’s Sultana Explains Why She Chose Islam Over Christianity Despite Catholic Upbringing

Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate Sultana has opened up about her spiritual journey and the reasons behind her decision to embrace Islam, despite being raised in a household influenced by both Christianity and Islam.

During a heart-to-heart conversation with fellow housemate Zita, the 25-year-old model and reality star shared that her religious path was a deeply personal choice shaped by her diverse upbringing. Zita had asked if her parents were strict Muslims, prompting Sultana to clarify her background.

She explained that her father is a Muslim from Adamawa, while her mother is a Christian from Cross River. Growing up, she attended both church and mosque services. She was even baptized in the Catholic Church, receiving the name Josephine during her baptism.

“No, I grew up going to both church and mosque, my mom is a Christian. At some point, I got baptized in Catholic, my baptismal name is Josephine. I just decided to choose the religion that works best for me, which is Islam,” she told Zita.

Though she once practised Catholicism, Sultana said she ultimately found greater spiritual connection and fulfillment in Islam, leading to her decision to fully embrace the faith.

Her candid revelation has sparked curiosity and respect among fans of the show, many of whom commended her openness about religion and identity.
