Beloved Kannywood Actor Malam Nata’ala Passes Away After Long Illness
Renowned Kannywood actor Mato Na Mato, popularly known as Malam Nata’ala, has reportedly passed away after a prolonged battle with illness, leaving fans and colleagues heartbroken.
The actor, who hailed from Potiskum in Yobe State, was widely celebrated for his remarkable performance as an almajiri school teacher in the popular Arewa24 Hausa drama series Dadin Kowa. His role earned him admiration across Northern Nigeria and among lovers of Hausa cinema for his natural talent and deep cultural expression.
Before his death, Malam Nata’ala had made several emotional appeals on social media, seeking financial help to cover his medical expenses. In August, he openly asked for forgiveness from anyone he might have wronged, revealing that he was spending ₦250,000 weekly on injections for his treatment. His story touched many hearts and eventually caught the attention of Niger Republic’s President, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, who donated ₦27 million to support his care.
Despite the overwhelming support from fans and well-wishers, the actor’s health continued to deteriorate until his passing was confirmed.
