Bimbo Akintola Shares Why She’s Still Single and Childless at 52, Opens Up About Love, Loss, and Marriage
Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has candidly opened up about her single status at 52, revealing that her journey to this point has been shaped by personal loss, values, and life’s circumstances not by a deliberate decision to remain unmarried.
In an exclusive interview with Pulse Nigeria, the award-winning actress disclosed that she has never been married, does not have children, and has yet to meet a life partner who truly fits her vision of forever love.
Akintola recalled that she once met a man she believed would be her lifelong companion, but he sadly passed away. Since then, she has not found another person who fits that role, emphasizing that she refuses to marry out of pressure or pretense.
“I want everything to be truthful. I want to be true to myself and to God. I don’t think I would want to marry anyone I can’t stay with forever,” she said.
The actress, whose mother is from Edo State and father from Oyo State, described marriage as a sacred commitment that should be held in the house of God, surrounded by loved ones.
She stressed that while marriage is important, it is not the ultimate measure of a woman’s worth but it does become a valuable source of companionship in later years.
Bimbo added that she remains open to marriage at any age, even at 78, if she finds the right person:
“Marriage doesn’t make you. But as you grow older and children move on with their lives, loneliness is real. You need a companion for the later years.”
Her openness and honesty have sparked discussions online, resonating with many who share similar life experiences.
