Blind Musician Cobhams Asuquo: “I Work Five Times Harder Than My Peers”

Nigerian music producer and singer, Cobhams Asuquo, has shared insights into his journey as a blind artist, revealing the extra effort he puts into his craft due to his visual impairment.

In a recent interview with Hip TV, the ‘One Hit’ crooner said he works significantly harder than his colleagues to counter the stereotypes often associated with blindness.

He stated, “Being aware of my blindness pushes me to put in five times more effort than others. There’s a general belief that blind people are limited in what they can achieve, and I’ve always worked hard to prove otherwise.”

Encouraging people with disabilities to own their identity, Cobhams said it’s important to face reality rather than mask it with euphemisms.

“I’m completely blind, not just visually impaired, and that’s okay. I accept it fully, even find humor in it sometimes. It’s part of who I am, and I draw strength from it,” he added.
