Borno Farmers Abducted by Suspected Boko Haram as Tinubu Boosts National Security Operations
Twelve farmers have reportedly been kidnapped by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in the Mussa district of Askira‑Uba Local Government Area, Borno State. The abduction occurred on the evening of Saturday, November 22, 2025, as the farmers were returning home from their fields.
The Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the incident to Channels Television, stating that investigations are ongoing. Authorities are working to secure the safe release of the victims.
This development comes shortly after the tragic attack on Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, where gunmen killed two worshippers and abducted 38 congregants on November 18, 2025. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently confirmed the safe release of those worshippers and commended security agencies for their efforts.
Following the Borno abduction, Tinubu has intensified security measures nationwide, including the deployment of additional personnel and the approval of 30,000 new police recruits. The president also ordered the withdrawal of officers previously assigned to protect prominent individuals and is collaborating with state governments to improve training facilities for security forces.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq praised the president’s efforts and thanked the military, DSS, and police for their quick response in securing vulnerable communities.
