BREAKING: Nigerian Police Re-Arrest Enenche Enenche Amid Ongoing Trial for Alleged Cyberstalking of Dunamis Pastor
Prominent activist and social commentator, Obonyilo Peter Enenche, popularly known as Enenche Enenche, has been re-arrested by the Nigerian Police in Abuja, sparking renewed public attention and debate over his controversial legal battle with Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre.
The arrest occurred shortly after Enenche was last seen attending the birthday celebration of Senate Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro in Abuja on Thursday.
Enenche is currently standing trial for allegedly cyberstalking and defaming the popular clergyman. The trial, which has already raised eyebrows, took a dramatic turn when a Wuse Zone 6 Magistrate Court ordered his surety to appear and explain the defendant’s absence despite the fact that Enenche’s bail had already been officially revoked.
The court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Emmanuel A. Iyanna, had earlier granted the prosecution’s motion to revoke Enenche’s bail over alleged violations, including media comments and petitions accusing the magistrate of bias.
The defence had countered, arguing that once bail was revoked, the responsibility for the defendant’s whereabouts shifted back to the prosecution not the surety.
Tensions have mounted with accusations of judicial bias and intimidation. The defence team had filed a motion for Magistrate Iyanna’s recusal on the grounds of close ties with the complainant, Pastor Paul Enenche, but the court refused the application. Instead, the court strengthened the state’s hand by upholding the bail revocation and demanding the surety show cause.
Human rights advocates are now questioning the consistency of legal procedures in the case, pointing out contradictions like summoning a surety after bail has already been revoked.
Sources close to the matter say Enenche is a kinsman of Pastor Paul Enenche, further complicating public perception of the case and raising questions about its motivations.
