Burna Boy is right, only few of us make music with substance – BNXN.
Renowned vocalist, Daniel Benson, widely known as BNXN, has reinforced Burna Boy’s contentious remark concerning a majority of Nigerian musicians creating music devoid of “depth” or “meaning.”
It was brought to attention that Burna Boy recently created a stir by suggesting in an interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music that the genre of afrobeats lacks significant musical value and meaningful lyrical content. In response to an Instagram live session, BNXN acknowledged Burna Boy’s stance, emphasizing that only a minority of artists create music with substantial depth.
BNXN further expressed how he resonates strongly with Burna Boy due to the latter’s unique approach to music.
“When I listened to him and I listened to anyone else, you can just tell that he is doing his own thing. Same thing when you listen to me. Except you want to be whining yourself sha. What we are doing here, you can’t get it anywhere else. I promise you.“It’s only a few of us [artistes] that are real and doing this music thing with proper substance and having something to say in it.
The other day, I was watching the Burna interview and I was wondering why everybody got him so misinterpreted. What you don’t understand will always confuse. So, it’s okay.“Personally, I didn’t have a problem with what he said o. The only issue there is that he failed to say he is also part of what we do [afrobeats].”
