Businesswoman Claims Nigerian Men Are the Real Gold Diggers, Shares Chat from Young Admirer
A Nigerian businesswoman, Roberta Edu, has stirred conversation online after alleging that many Nigerian men are the true gold diggers.
She made the statement while sharing a message from a younger man who professed love for her despite knowing she’s married.
In a Facebook post, the CEO of Moppet Foods explained that most men who claim they would never marry older women or single mothers often change their stance when those women are wealthy.
She added that financial success attracts numerous suitors, regardless of age or marital status.
Roberta revealed that she still receives romantic advances from younger men who seem drawn not to her personality, but to her perceived wealth.
To illustrate her point, she posted a screenshot of a message from one admirer who boldly promised to be her “hubby” and friend.
In her post, she wrote:
“Nobody digs gold more than a Nigerian man. All that talk about not marrying older women or single mothers? What they actually mean is they won’t marry broke ones. If you have money, watch how young men in their 30s will flood your inbox proposing marriage.”
She concluded by advising women to focus on becoming financially independent, assuring them that men will naturally pursue them once they are successful.
Her post has since gone viral, sparking mixed reactions among social media users. While some agreed with her perspective, others argued that her experience doesn’t represent all Nigerian men.
