Charly Boy Reacts with Humor as Lagos Bus Stop Gets Renamed After Rapper Olamide
Veteran Nigerian entertainer and activist, Charly Boy, has finally responded to the Lagos State government’s decision to rename the iconic “Charly Boy Bus Stop” in Bariga after award-winning rapper Olamide, now officially known as “Olamide Baddo Bus Stop.”
The renaming, which took place on Friday, July 25, was carried out by the Bariga Local Government Development Authority (LVDA) in honor of Olamide’s contributions to the community and Nigerian music.
However, the move stirred mixed reactions online, with some speculating that the change may have been politically motivated possibly linked to Charly Boy’s history of outspoken criticism against government policies.
Rather than address the issue directly, Charly Boy took to social media with a cryptic yet humorous post, sharing a photo of the new signboard and captioning it:
“Bus Stop or no bus stop,
Fada no dey finish.
Go verify.
Dia Father’s left nyash.”
The post has sparked discussions across social platforms, with many praising Charly Boy’s calm and witty demeanor, interpreting it as a graceful response to what others might have viewed as a public slight.
The renaming is seen by some as a symbolic shift recognizing new cultural icons while others believe the legacy of the original name still holds significant historical weight in Lagos pop culture.
