Charly Boy Recalls Early Morning Surprise from Peter Obi with “Ghana Must Go” Bag

Entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has shared a heartwarming story about a surprise visit from former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The visit, which took place in the early hours, included a “Ghana Must Go” bag filled with traditional snacks and treats.

In a post titled “The Day Peter Obi Surprised Me With Ghana Must Go,” Charly Boy revealed that Obi called him around 1 a.m., asking if he could visit in the morning.

Obi suggested arriving around 5:30 or 6 a.m., and Charly Boy, though initially hesitant, agreed. True to his word, Obi arrived promptly at 5:45 a.m.

Charly Boy described the moment: “As I came downstairs to meet him, I saw a big Ghana Must Go bag by the entrance of my sitting room.

I just wondered what could be inside.” The two spent nearly two hours discussing politics, Nigeria, and family matters.

After Obi left, Charly Boy opened the bag to discover it was filled with traditional goodies, including roasted groundnuts, alligator peppers, kola nuts, pawpaw, oranges, agara, mangoes, and bananas items personally packed by Obi.

He shared, “Sometimes the little things remind you that life is not too hard. The kolanut and bitter kola Obi gave me touched me more than money could.”

Charly Boy, a known supporter of Peter Obi, has always been vocal about his admiration for the politician. In 2023, he even declared he would walk naked in celebration if Obi had won at the election petitions tribunal.

Obi has previously praised Charly Boy, highlighting the activist’s commitment to speaking truth to power and holding leaders accountable.

This latest gesture, according to Charly Boy, reflects Obi’s thoughtfulness and personal touch in connecting with people.
