CharlyBoy Appeals for Support to Save Ailing Nollywood Veteran Tom Njemanze

Veteran entertainer and social activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as CharlyBoy, has issued a heartfelt appeal to Nigerians to assist ailing Nollywood actor Tom Njemanze, who is currently battling prostate cancer.

Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja, CharlyBoy called on the public, colleagues, and fans to rally around the actor and support his urgent medical needs.

Njemanze, known for his roles in classics like Issakaba and Osuofia in London, recently shared a viral video revealing he is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer and is in dire need of financial support to undergo life-saving surgery.

“Our Nollywood icon, Tom Njemanze, is currently in a hospital bed, fighting for his life,” CharlyBoy said. “The prostate complications are draining him, and he needs urgent surgery costing millions. How many more legends must we lose before we start showing up for our own?”

He continued, “This isn’t just about Tom it’s about the value we place on those who brought us joy, laughter, and unforgettable stories. Let’s not wait for RIP hashtags. Let’s save him while we still can.”

The activist, who recently overcame his own battle with prostate cancer, revealed that the CharlyBoy Foundation has launched a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about prostate health, early detection, and the importance of regular screening.

According to him, many Nigerian men suffer in silence due to stigma and lack of information, a reality his foundation aims to change by promoting open conversations about men’s health especially prostate issues, mental health, and diabetes.

“This campaign is deeply personal for me,” CharlyBoy said. “Having survived prostate cancer myself, I’ve chosen to turn my experience into advocacy to ensure other men don’t die in silence.”

He called on all well-meaning Nigerians to donate whatever they can, emphasizing that no contribution is too small.

The campaign to support Njemanze is part of a broader initiative by the CharlyBoy Foundation to provide medical and emotional support for entertainers, particularly aging stars who once captivated millions but now face health challenges without sufficient support.
