Childbirth Is Too Risky for Women, Surrogacy Should Be the Future – Feminist Sparks Online Debate

A recent social media post has ignited heated debate after a feminist suggested that women should stop giving birth due to the risks associated with pregnancy and delivery.

The discussion, shared by X user @FindingSolace, recounted a conversation with a feminist who proposed that women consider using surrogates instead of giving birth themselves. The post read:

“I was arguing with a feminist about childbirth. She said pregnancy and delivery are risky, and women should not be giving birth. My greatest shock came when she proposed that women should start using surrogates. Wait! Are surrogates men or test tubes? 🙄”

The post went on to question the inconsistency in the suggestion, highlighting the irony of avoiding childbirth risks personally while potentially exposing another woman to them.

As of Monday, the post had generated thousands of replies, shares, and comments, with many social media users criticizing the surrogacy suggestion. Reactions ranged from calls for proper regulation to outright skepticism of the feminist’s viewpoint:

  • YourSoftIgboGirl said: “Surrogates are paid for their services. They understand the risks and if they want to go ahead and get paid for it, it’s their decision. My issue is that it should be regulated so that people who do it get properly compensated and not exploited because of poverty.”
  • Mr Man added: “Feminists just want the same perks men have without putting in the work. If given the opportunity, they will do the same thing they criticize men for.”
